إِنَّ أَكۡرَمَكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتۡقَىٰكُمۡ
— الحجرات 13
Verse: "O people, We created you from male and female and made you nations and tribes so that you may know one another — the most honorable of you with Allah is the most righteous." (49:13)
Occasion (Sahih): Ibn Abi Hatim narrated: revealed on the day of Mecca's conquest when Bilal called the adhan atop the Kaaba. Some said: "Can this black slave call the adhan atop the Kaaba?!" The verse was then revealed.
Lesson: Racism — regardless of what clothes it wears — is a direct refutation of this verse.
