"Allah Has Purchased from the Believers Their Souls and Wealth" — The Great Pledge of Aqaba

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱشۡتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَأَمۡوَٰلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
— التوبة 111
Verse: "Allah has purchased from the believers their souls and wealth in exchange for Paradise." (9:111)

Occasion (Hasan): Ibn Abi Hatim narrated from Ka'b ibn Malik: when the Ansar gave the Great Pledge of Aqaba, Abdullah ibn Rawaha said: "O Messenger of Allah, stipulate for your Lord whatever you wish." He said: "You worship Allah and associate nothing with Him." Then said: "If you do that, you have Paradise." The verse was revealed.
