قُل لَّآ أَجِدُ فِي مَآ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّمًا
— الأنعام 145
Verse: "Say: I find not in what is revealed to me any prohibition except that it be carrion, flowing blood, or the flesh of swine." (6:145)
Occasion (Sahih): Quraysh and the Arabs had forbidden themselves various wholesome foods — Bahira, Saiba, Wasila, and Hami animals — claiming this was divine revelation. The verse was a direct refutation: there is no such prohibition in divine revelation — you forbade these by your own desires.
Lesson: Prohibition without Quranic evidence is fabrication against Allah — "Say: Did Allah authorize you, or do you fabricate against Allah?"

Question: What was Quraysh's position on forbidding certain livestock and how did the Quran respond?
Answer: Quraysh claimed forbidding Bahira and Saiba was divine revelation. The Quran responded: this is not in revelation — it is fabrication against Allah without evidence.
