Verse: "And that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke anyone along with Allah." (Al-Jinn 18)
Context:- Surah Al-Jinn was revealed after a delegation of jinn heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) recite at the Ukaz market or on his return from Al-Taif — Sahih Al-Bukhari (773)
- Allah said: "And that when the servant of Allah stood up supplicating, they almost became upon him a compacted mass." (Al-Jinn 19) — the jinn crowded around him while he prayed
- Verse 18: the masjids belong to Allah alone — a directive aimed at the jinn before they returned to their people: monotheism is the foundation
- Historical context: it is reported this was revealed after the painful journey to Al-Taif where its people rejected him — so his first victory came through jinn not humans
Lesson:The call to Allah does not depend on human acceptance — the Prophet was rejected in Al-Taif and then the jinn believed in him. Allah provides the caller with those who respond from where they do not expect.
Question: What is the significance of the jinn believing at the most difficult moment in the Prophet life?
Answer: The journey to Al-Taif was harder on the Prophet than the Day of Uhud according to Aisha — so when he was rejected by humans Allah honored him with the faith of the jinn, demonstrating that success in calling to Allah is not measured by the immediate response of those directly addressed.
