Fasaha and Balagha — Distinction and Levels

balagha Level: advanced fasaha blg-001
وَقِيلَ يَٰٓأَرۡضُ ٱبۡلَعِي مَآءَكِ وَيَٰسَمَآءُ أَقۡلِعِي
— هود 44
Fasaha: Clarity and transparency. Technically: speech free from verbal defects (jarring letters, weak structure, obscurity).

Balagha: Speech matching the context (muqtada al-hal) with fasaha — saying the right thing, in the right style, in the right place.

Key difference: Fasih speech: free from verbal defects. Baligh speech: fasih + matching the context (listener, intent, circumstances).

Quranic example: "And it was said: O earth, swallow your water; and O sky, cease" (11:44) — commanding the inanimate with complex actions in briefest expression. Compresses a massive cosmic event in one stroke.
