Sudden Surprise Particle — "And Suddenly They Are Standing, Watching"

balagha Level: intermediate uslub blg-045
Definition:
The sudden "idha" (idha al-fuja'iyya): a particle inserted into a context to express sudden and unexpected occurrence — as if the event struck without preamble. It creates a stylistic surprise producing a psychological effect that makes the reader feel the shock of the event.

Quranic example: "Then it is blown again and suddenly they are standing, watching." (Surah 39:68)

The beauty:
Before "fa-idha": the first trumpet blow strikes dead all in the heavens and earth. Then — "and suddenly they are standing, watching." The surprise: death flipped to standing in an instant. "Idha" came without preamble just as resurrection comes with no warning from the dead person's perspective. Style mimics meaning — structurally and sonically.

Question: How does the sudden "idha" structurally mirror the meaning of resurrection in the verse?
Answer: Just as resurrection comes suddenly without preamble from the dead person's perspective — "idha" appears suddenly in the sentence without transition. The style re-enacts the experience of the meaning rather than merely describing it.
