Verse: "He called out in the darknesses: 'There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.'" (21:87)
The three darknesses: Darkness of night + darkness of the sea + darkness of the whale's belly — three layers of complete isolation.
The prayer's four pillars:
- "No deity except You" — complete monotheism in hardship
- "Exalted are You" — declaring Allah free of all deficiency
- "I have been of the wrongdoers" — confession without pretense
- Implicit supplication — not explicit requesting but declaring his need and remorse
Lesson: Your most isolated moments from the world are your closest moments to Allah. Your acknowledgment of wronging yourself is the key to relief.
