Crossing the Sea and Pharaoh's Drowning — Faith at the Last Moment

Quranic context: Yunus 90-92; Ash-Shu'ara 52-68
Context: Musa led the Israelites out at night and Pharaoh pursued them with his army. At the sea, Musa's people said: "We are overtaken!" — certainty of destruction. Musa said: "No — my Lord is with me; He will guide me."
The sea splitting:
"We inspired Musa: Strike the sea with your staff — it split, each part like a great mountain." Twelve dry paths for twelve tribes. The Israelites crossed and Pharaoh followed, then the sea closed over him.
Pharaoh's faith at the moment of drowning:
"Until when drowning overtook him he said: I believe there is no god but He in whom the Children of Israel believe." It was not accepted: "Now? When you disobeyed before and were among the corruptors?"
Preservation of the body as a sign:
"Today We will preserve your body so you may be a sign for those after you." Pharaoh's body was preserved as a sign for generations.
Lesson: Repentance at the moment of death is not accepted — true faith must precede the moment of despair. Pharaoh spent his life claiming divinity and acknowledged tawhid while drowning.

Question: Why was Pharaoh's declaration of faith not accepted at the moment of drowning?
Answer: Because repentance is not accepted at the moment of death and witnessing — "Now? When you disobeyed before" — true faith cannot come after all hope of rescue is gone.
