Quranic context:
Yunus (AS) departed in anger without Allah's permission, boarded a ship, and when they cast lots his name fell — so he was thrown into the sea and swallowed by the whale.
Context:
In the whale's belly in the darkness of the ocean he cried to his Lord: "There is no god but You — glory be to You — I was indeed of the wrongdoers." Allah answered and the whale cast him onto open ground, and a gourd tree was grown over him.
Lesson:
Admitting one's error is the key to relief. Yunus's supplication contained monotheism, glorification, and acknowledgment of wrongdoing — three pillars for escaping hardship. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "No distressed person calls upon Allah with these words except that Allah relieves them."
