Verse: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for people of understanding." (3:190)
"Ulu Al-Albab" (people of understanding):
"Lubb" is the core/essence of something — so these are people with pure intellects, unclouded by desire or blind imitation. The Quran repeats this term sixteen times — always linked to reflection, knowledge, or piety.
Their prayer and reflection: "Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of heavens and earth: 'Our Lord, You did not create this in vain.'"
The harmony of dhikr and tafakkur:
Complete worship for people of understanding: a heart that remembers + a mind that reflects + a tongue that glorifies. Dhikr without reflection can become empty ritual; reflection without dhikr can lead to arrogance — combining them is perfection.
Lesson: When you look at the sky or read about the universe, say: "Our Lord, You did not create this in vain" — turning scientific reading into prayer.

Question: What is the ideal combination of dhikr and tafakkur for people of understanding as described in this verse?
Answer: A heart remembering Allah in every position (standing, sitting, lying) + a mind reflecting on the universe + a tongue sealing with praise and supplication "Our Lord, You did not create this in vain."
