Our Lord Give Us Good in This World and Good in the Hereafter — Prayer of Balance

tadabbur Level: basic akhirah td-204
رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةٗ وَفِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ حَسَنَةٗ
— البقرة 201
Verse: "Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." (2:201)

Combining world and Hereafter: Came in contrast to those who pray "Lord, give us in this world" with no concern for the Hereafter. Islam doesn't call for abandoning this world but for balanced asking.

Both "hasana" undefined: Undefined, broad good — not a specific amount of money or a certain position. From the highest etiquette: don't specify to Allah how to honor you.
Source: Sahih Al-Bukhari (4522); Ibn Kathir (1/546); Al-Sadi
Question: Why does "hasana" (good) come indefinite not definite in the supplication?
Answer: From the etiquette of dua: don't specify to Allah how to honor you — the undefined "good" encompasses everything good in both worlds without restricting the request.
