We Have Opened for You a Clear Opening — Allah Named the Apparent Setback a Clear Opening

إِنَّا فَتَحۡنَا لَكَ فَتۡحٗا مُّبِينٗا
— الفتح 1
Verse: "We have opened for you a clear opening." (48:1) — Revealed after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah — which the companions saw as a humiliation. Umar said: "Why should I accept something demeaning for my religion?" But Allah named it "a clear opening." Within two years Islam received more people than in fifteen years. Hudaybiyyah was the beginning of Mecca's conquest. The truce gave Muslims time to spread the call. Great lesson: what you see as defeat may be an opening. Allah sees what you don't see. Lesson: trust Allah's naming of events more than your own naming.

Question: What did the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah reveal about Allah's method of giving victory?
Answer: That what appears as an apparent defeat may be the beginning of a greater victory — Allah sees the future and we do not.
