Memorizing While Walking and Moving — Using Movement for Retention

ٱلَّذِينَ يَذۡكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَٰمٗا وَقُعُودٗا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمۡ
— آل عمران الآية 191
Review while walking:
Some learners may find that repeating familiar verses on a quiet walk helps them keep a routine. This page has no evidence that footsteps synchronize brain rhythms with verses or make memorization stronger than sitting for everyone.

How to memorize while walking:
  1. Start with verses you know well so that you do not guess while moving.
  2. Walk somewhere safe and repeat quietly or internally while watching your path.
  3. Afterward, check uncertain passages in the mushaf or with a teacher.

Practical limit:
If walking distracts you or you need to check pronunciation, sit and read from the mushaf.
