Abu Ja'far Al-Madani — Features and His Two Narrators Ibn Wardan and Ibn Jammaz
وَرَتِّلِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَرۡتِيلٗا
— المزمل الآية 4
Abu Ja'far Yazid ibn Al-Qa'qa' Al-Madani (d. 130H):
Among Medina's earliest readers — learned from Abdullah ibn Ayyash, Abu Hurayra, and Ibn Abbas. The Followers (Tabi'in) would learn Quran from him. An imam in performance and asceticism.
His two narrators:

- Ibn Wardan (d. 160H): Abu Al-Harith Isa ibn Wardan Al-Madani — received directly from Abu Ja'far. His narration is more widespread.
- Ibn Jammaz (d. 170H): Abu Al-Rabi' Sulayman ibn Muslim ibn Jammaz — also learned from Abu Ja'far. His narration circulates in the books of the ten.
- Sukun on mim and ya' in certain words.
- Replacing hamza with waw or ya' in positions.
- Specific assimilation (idgham) positions.
- Strengthening letters that others soften in certain words.
