People of the Cave — Fleeing with Faith

رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحۡمَةٗ وَهَيِّئۡ لَنَا مِنۡ أَمۡرِنَا رَشَدٗا
— الكهف الآية 10
Verse: "When the youths took refuge in the cave and said: 'Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and provide us right conduct in our affair.'" (18:10)

Who were they? Young men who believed in a polytheistic society — when it became unbearable, they chose migration and isolation over compromising their faith.

The prayer — mercy + right conduct:
"Grant us mercy" — protection and safety; "provide right conduct" — correct decisions. A comprehensive prayer for both material and spiritual needs.

The 309-year sleep:
A miraculous sleep was cast over them — they woke in a completely different world three centuries later.

Lesson: The People of the Cave were youth who chose their faith over their society. In them is a model for generations who stand firm even when the price is isolation and alienation.
