Ishaq and Yaqub — The Inherited Blessing in the Descendants of Ibrahim
وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ نَافِلَةٗ وَكُلًّا جَعَلۡنَا صَٰلِحِينَ
— الأنبياء الآية 72
Quranic context: Hud 71-73 / Al-Anbiya 72-73 / As-Saffat 112-113
The glad tiding of Ishaq: The angels gave Ibrahim and his wife Sarah glad tidings of Ishaq. Sarah laughed in astonishment: "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and my husband is an old man?" She was told: "Are you amazed at the command of Allah? The mercy of Allah and His blessings are upon you, people of this house."
And beyond Ishaq, Yaqub: "And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqub as an extra gift" — the extra gift beyond what was asked. Ibrahim asked for offspring; Allah gave him Ishaq and Yaqub beyond his asking.
We made them leaders: "And We made them leaders guiding by Our command and inspired them to do good deeds" — the blessing is not merely in many descendants, but in descendants who guide humanity.

Lesson:
- The reward matches the deed: Ibrahim left his family for Allah, so Allah gave him blessed descendants
- "Bonus gift" is a Quranic concept: Allah sometimes gives beyond what is asked
- Blessing in offspring does not mean quantity — it means righteousness, leadership, and guidance
