Basic Ethics & Manners Surah: Ali Imran (159)

Had You Been Harsh and Hard-Hearted They Would Have Dispersed — Gentleness Is Leadership

فَبِمَا رَحۡمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لِنتَ لَهُمۡ
— آل عمران الآية 159
Verse: "It was by a mercy from Allah that you were lenient with them — had you been harsh and hard-hearted they would have dispersed from around you." (3:159)

Context: After Uhud where errors occurred — the supreme commander ﷺ was instructed to pardon and consult, not punish and dictate.

Three leadership commands: Pardon, seek forgiveness for them, and consult them in affairs.

Lesson: The leader who possesses gentleness possesses hearts — the leader who possesses only power possesses bodies.
