Basic Social Conduct Surah: An-Nisa (19)

Live With Them Honorably — Perhaps You Dislike Something in Which Allah Has Placed Good

وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ
— النساء الآية 19
Verse: "Live with them honorably — if you dislike them, perhaps you dislike something in which Allah has placed great good." (4:19) — "Honorably" requires positive action, not mere endurance. Then: "if you dislike them" — God acknowledges dislike as a real possibility then appends divine wisdom. "Perhaps" (asa) from Allah = certainty. How many marriages built on coldness became the firmest, and how many built on first love ended in ruin? Lesson: God's wisdom in what you dislike is deeper than your vision in what you love.
