Basic Al-Kawthar Surah: Al-Kawthar (1)

Indeed We Have Given You Al-Kawthar — The Response to the Prophet's Enemies Across History

إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ
— الكوثر الآية 1
Verse: "Indeed, We have given you Al-Kawthar"

Reflection:
This surah was revealed when enemies of the Prophet said "Muhammad is abtar" — meaning: cut off from legacy with no descendants after the deaths of his sons. The decisive divine response came: We have given you "al-kawthar" — abundant, overflowing good.

Al-Kawthar — what does it include?
  • A river in Paradise described by the Prophet as whiter than milk and sweeter than honey
  • The comprehensive abundance: prophethood, the Book, the nation, intercession, and al-Kawthar
  • Ibn Abbas said: al-Kawthar is the abundant good Allah gave His Prophet
The historical result: The one who said "abtar" is gone and forgotten. The Prophet has over 1.8 billion followers, and his name is repeated five times in every adhan in every corner of the world.

"Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off": The result was reversed — the truly cut-off is not one whose sons died, but one who leaves behind no good remembrance.

Lesson: Do not fear false accusations — Allah defends His sincere servants and elevates their remembrance at the right time.
