Basic Monotheism Surah: At-Tur (48)

Glorify Your Lord When You Rise and by Night — Glorification at Transition Times

وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
— الطور الآية 48
Verse: "Glorify your Lord when you rise, and part of the night glorify Him, and at the fading of the stars." (52:48-49) — "When you rise" = every station and position. Transition times between states — from sleep to waking, from rest to work — are times for glorification. Remembrance fills the gaps. "Part of the night" — not all of it, but part. Night glorification has a special quality. "Fading of the stars" = at dawn when stars disappear — a cosmic transition that coincides with a personal transition. Lesson: use small transitions in your day for remembrance of Allah.
