Basic The Hereafter Surah: Al-Qariah (4)

The Day People Will Be Like Scattered Moths — Judgment Day in Quranic Images

يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ
— القارعة الآية 4
Verse: "The day people will be like scattered moths." (101:4) — "Scattered moths" = insects dispersing in every direction without order. An image embodying chaos, confusion, and each person's solitude. The contrast in the next verse: "mountains will be like carded wool" — solid mountains become fluffy wool. What you thought was fixed collapsed. Then: "whoever has heavy scales will be in pleasant life" — after the terrifying image comes the glad tidings. Lesson: terrifying images in the Quran are for awakening — they always follow with tidings for those who prepared.
