Madd Arid lil-Sukoon — At Pausing

Madd Arid lil-Sukoon occurs when pausing on a word ending with a Madd or Leen letter before a letter that was originally moving but is made sukoon due to pausing.

Duration: 2, 4, or 6 harakaat (all three are permitted), 6 is best.
Ruling: Permissible — the sukoon is temporary (due to pausing), not original.

Examples when pausing on:
  • "نَعْبُدُ" → pausing silences the Dal, extending the Waw: "نَعْبُودْ"
  • "الرَّحِيمِ" → pausing silences the Meem: "الرَّحِيمْ"
  • "نَسْتَعِينُ" → pausing silences the Noon: "نَسْتَعِينْ"
When continuing, no extension — Madd Arid only exists when pausing.
