Basic Noon Saakinah Rules

Iqlab — Rule, Sign, and Complete Examples

Iqlab: Converting Nun Sakinah or Tanween into a hidden Meem with ghunnah, before the letter Ba (ب).

Only letter: Ba (ب) — making Iqlab the least-lettered ruling among the four.

Performance (3 steps):
  1. Convert noon/tanween into a meem (in pronunciation only — writing stays as noon)
  2. Hide this meem by lightly touching lips (avoid pressure to prevent idgham)
  3. Maintain ghunnah for 2 counts from the nasal passage
Then pronounce the Ba clearly.

Mushaf sign: A small meem (ۢ) above the noon or tanween.

Complete examples:
For sakinah noon: مِن بَعْدِ، أَنۢبِئْهُمْ، يَنۢبُتُ، لَّيُنۢبَذَنَّ
For tanween: سَمِيعٌۢ بَصِيرٌ، عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ، عَلِيماً بِمَا، كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ

Difference from Ikhfa Shafawi: Ikhfa Shafawi starts with sakinah Meem (not noon).
