Ha' Al-Sakt: A silent Ha written in the Mushaf at the end of certain words to indicate a dropped vowel or pause letter. Not to be confused with:
- Ha' Al-Kinayah (pronoun Ha: إِنَّهُ، لَهُ) — covered in tj-108
- Ha' of Ta Marbutah (ـة) — covered in tj-124
- Original Ha (اللهُ، وَجْهٍ)
Eight Qur'anic locations in three surahs:
(1) Al-Baqarah 259: "لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْ" — Original: يَتَسَنَّى. At waqf: ساكنة. At wasl (Hafs): dropped.
(2) Al-An'am 90: "اقْتَدِهْ" — At waqf: ساكنة. At wasl (Hafs): retained with kasrah "اقْتَدِهِ" (most preferred).
(3) Al-Haqqah — six places:
- Verse 19: كِتَابِيَهْ (Original: كِتَابِيَ)
- Verse 20: حِسَابِيَهْ
- Verse 25: كِتَابِيَهْ
- Verse 26: حِسَابِيَهْ
- Verse 28: مَالِيَهْ
- Verse 29: سُلْطَانِيَهْ
At waqf: ساكنة. At wasl (Hafs): all six are dropped.
(4) Al-Qari'ah 10: "مَا هِيَهْ" — At waqf: ساكنة. At wasl: dropped.
Hafs ruling summary: Ha' Al-Sakt is always silent. In wasl: dropped in all locations except "اقْتَدِهْ" where it's retained with kasrah.
Question: What are the eight locations of Ha' Al-Sakt in the Qur'an? Which word uniquely retains the Ha at wasl in Hafs?
(Qari'ah 10). Only word retaining Ha at wasl in Hafs: "اقْتَدِهِ" with kasrah
