Natural Madd

2 counts

Madd letter not followed by hamza or sukoon

قَالَ / كِتَابٌ / نُورٌ

Wajib Muttasil

4-5 counts

Madd letter followed by hamza in the same word

جَاءَ / سُوءٌ / شَيْءٌ

Jaiz Munfasil

2-5 counts

Madd letter followed by hamza in the next word

يَا أَيُّهَا / قُوا أَنفُسَكُم

Arid Lissukoon

2-4-6 counts

Madd letter before a moving letter we stop on with sukoon

نَسْتَعِينُ / الرَّحِيمِ (وقفاً)

Madd Leen

2-4-6 counts

Waw or Ya with sukoon after fatha, stopped upon

خَوْفٌ / بَيْتٌ (وقفاً)

Madd Badal

2 counts

Hamza followed by madd letters replacing a second hamza
