Had We Sent Down Angels — The Obstinate Demands of the Polytheists

مَّا كَانُواْ لِيُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ
— الأنعام الآية 111
Verse: "Had We sent down the angels and the dead had spoken to them and We had gathered everything before them — they would not have believed." (6:111)

Context: The Meccan polytheists proposed specific signs: "We won't believe until you bring angels, raise the dead, Allah comes Himself." The Quran responds: even if all these were fulfilled — they would not have believed.

The startling truth: Disbelief is sometimes not due to lack of evidence — but from willing disbelief. The argument compels the fair-minded, not the obstinate.

Lesson: One who demands signs as argument not truth-seeking — no sign will convince him. Faith is a heart decision before it is an intellectual response.
