Quranic Rhetorical Inimitability — The Challenge and the Clarity
أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوۡلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ
— يونس الآية 62
Al-Jurjani's principle: "Nazm is the arrangement and composition of words according to their meanings and relations — and the Quran has the most perfect nazm of any known speech."
What humanity cannot achieve in Quranic style: (1) Absolute brevity with complete fulfillment of meaning. (2) Smooth transitions between styles without strain. (3) Balance between fasila and meaning — sound serves meaning, not dominates it. (4) Perfection in each sentence independently AND in context of what precedes and follows.
