Surah: Al-Maidah (6)
Purity and Ablution — Condition of Prayer
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا قُمۡتُمۡ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغۡسِلُواْ وُجُوهَكُمۡ
— المائدة الآية 6
Verse: "When you rise to prayer, wash your faces and arms to the elbows..." (5:6)
Four obligatory acts of wudu: Washing the face, arms to elbows, wiping the head, washing feet to ankles.
Wudu nullifiers: Anything exiting from private parts, deep sleep, camel meat (one opinion), touching the penis (disputed), heavy bleeding (disputed).
Tayammum: When water is unavailable — two strikes: one for face, one for hands.
Ghusl (full bath) obligatory for: Janaba, menstruation, postpartum bleeding.
