Inheritance — The Quranic Shares

Verse: "For men a share of what parents and relatives leave, and for women a share of what parents and relatives leave." (4:7)

Six Quranic shares: Half, quarter, eighth, two-thirds, third, sixth.

Common examples: Single daughter: half; two or more daughters: two-thirds; mother with child: sixth; husband with child: quarter.

Son: Residuary heir — receives what remains after fixed shares, always double the daughter's share.
