Basic Trust in Allah Surah: Al-Baqarah (156)

Give Glad Tidings to the Patient Who When Calamity Strikes Say We Belong to Allah

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيۡهِ رَٰجِعُونَ
— البقرة الآية 156
Verse: "And give glad tidings to the patient — who when calamity strikes them say: Indeed to Allah we belong and to Him we return." (2:155-156)

The Istirja' phrase: Two sentences summarizing the entire creed of divine decree — first: affirming ownership (I am His servant and property). Second: affirming return (everything returns to Him).

Lesson: One who truly believes both has nothing left to be afflicted by — because both the One who gave and the One who took are the same.
