Surah: Quraysh (4)
For the Unification of Quraysh Their Unification of Winter and Summer Journey — The Blessing of Security and Food
ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفٍ
— قريش الآية 4
Verse: "For the unification of Quraysh — their unification of the winter and summer journey. So let them worship the Lord of this House who fed them from hunger and secured them from fear." (106:1-4) — "Li-ilaf" — the lam is for reason. The surah recalls two blessings Allah prepared specifically for Quraysh: feeding from hunger and security from fear. These two blessings are the most essential needs — body and soul together. Then the directed question: "let them worship the Lord of this House" — meaning since you ate and were secured, thank the Benefactor not the idols. The Kaaba is a means of reminder not the end. Lesson: every morning secure and fed is a blessing from "the Lord of this House" deserving gratitude.
