The Hereafter
Surah: Az-Zukhruf (67)
Close Friends That Day Will Be Enemies to Each Other Except the Righteous
ٱلۡأَخِلَّآءُ يَوۡمَئِذٍۭ بَعۡضُهُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
— الزخرف الآية 67
Verse: "Close friends that day will be enemies to each other — except the righteous." (43:67) — "Akhill" = intimate lifetime friends who shared everything with you. On Judgment Day — if your friendship was built on disobedience or heedlessness — they become enemies. Each blames the other. Exception: "except the righteous" — theirs is the only friendship that endures. Because it was built on Allah — what is built on Allah does not collapse with changing conditions. Lesson: true friendship is built on taqwa of Allah — everything else is illusion.
