Letter Characteristics — Introduction

Sifah (characteristic) literally means a quality that exists in something.
Technically: a quality a letter has when produced from its makhraj.

Categories:
  1. Characteristics with opposites (5 pairs):
    Jahr ↔ Hams
    Shiddah ↔ Rakhawah (with middle: Tawassut)
    Isti'la ↔ Istifal
    Itbaq ↔ Infitah
    Idhlaq ↔ Ismat
  2. Characteristics without opposites (7):
    Safir, Qalqalah, Leen, Inhiraf, Takrir, Tafashi, Istalah
