Dawud — The Psalms and Glorification
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ مِنَّا فَضۡلًا يَٰجِبَالُ أَوِّبِي مَعَهُۥ وَٱلطَّيۡرَ وَأَلَنَّا لَهُ ٱلۡحَدِيدَ
— سبأ الآية 10
Quranic context: Allah granted Dawud (peace be upon him) kingship, wisdom, and a voice with which mountains and birds glorified Allah alongside him; He revealed the Zabur to him.
Context:
The grace given to Dawud did not make him an arrogant hero — it made him more devoted: fasting, working with his hands, and glorifying Allah alongside mountains and birds in daily humility.
Context:
- "And We certainly gave Dawud from Us bounty: O mountains, repeat with him, and the birds." (Saba 10)
- Dawud fasted alternate days — reported in the Sunnah as the best fasting in Allah sight
- He ate from the work of his own hands — Allah taught him the craft of chainmail
- Mountains and birds echoed his glorification — a sign that the entire universe is in constant praise
