الجن
Surah: Al-Jinn (18)
And the Masjids Belong to Allah — The Delegation of Jinn Who Listened
وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدۡعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًا
— الجن الآية 18
Verse: "And that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke anyone along with Allah." (Al-Jinn 18)
Context:
The call to Allah does not depend on human acceptance — the Prophet was rejected in Al-Taif and then the jinn believed in him. Allah provides the caller with those who respond from where they do not expect.
Context:
- Surah Al-Jinn was revealed after a delegation of jinn heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) recite at the Ukaz market or on his return from Al-Taif — Sahih Al-Bukhari (773)
- Allah said: "And that when the servant of Allah stood up supplicating, they almost became upon him a compacted mass." (Al-Jinn 19) — the jinn crowded around him while he prayed
- Verse 18: the masjids belong to Allah alone — a directive aimed at the jinn before they returned to their people: monotheism is the foundation
- Historical context: it is reported this was revealed after the painful journey to Al-Taif where its people rejected him — so his first victory came through jinn not humans
The call to Allah does not depend on human acceptance — the Prophet was rejected in Al-Taif and then the jinn believed in him. Allah provides the caller with those who respond from where they do not expect.
