Warsh's Narration from Nafi' — Core Characteristics

Biography:
Uthman ibn Sa'id Al-Masri (d. 197H) — nicknamed "Warsh" by Nafi' for his extreme fair complexion. Traveled from Egypt to Medina and repeatedly reviewed his reading with Nafi' until he mastered it. Returned to Egypt to spread his narration.

  2. Madd al-badal in three modes: qasr (2), tawassut (4), or tul (6) — as in "aamanu / iman"
  3. Fath and taqlil (minor imala): In certain words like "ra'a," "duha," "kafara"
  4. Tashil of hamza: Naql, ibdal, and tashil bayna bayna
  5. Extending ha' al-kinaya: In specific positions
Spread today: Egypt historically, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Senegal, Mauritania, and West Africa — second most widespread after Hafs.
